Advanced Power Apps and Power Automate: Workarounds for Common Problems

Spend any amount of time in the Power Platform forums and you will begin to see very similar questions asked over and over again. In this workshop, we will look at some of the most common issues Citizen Developers encounter when trying to develop applications and workflows in the Power Platform. We'll examine each type of problem, analyze why they occur, and provide workarounds that you can use when you encounter them. The workshop will be divided into two parts. In the first we'll concentrate on Power Apps and in the second we'll look at Power Automate. Here is a general list of the overall topics we will cover: Part One: Power Apps - Managing Delegation Warnings - Working with Dates and Times - Conditional Formatting of data - Passing Data to and Retrieving Results from a Flow Part Two: Power Automate - Using Loops and Parallel Branches - Working with Large Data Sources - Using Conditions and Switches effectively - Implementing Error Checking/Correction Check out my workshop preview: https://youtu.be/S1Wjjwv0P50

Application Insights, Log Analytics, Kusto and Power BI, Oh My!

Log Analytics is increasingly becoming the storage mechanism of choice for telemetry data. At its core is Azure Data Explorer (ADX) or "Kusto", and the KQL language for analysis, which can also be used independently. Power BI is of course the standard for data analysis and reporting in the Microsoft ecosystem. It's easy enough for Power BI to report on Log Analytics and ADX data, but the devil is in the details. When should you use native KQL Queries? When should you use Direct Query? What about Hybrid tables and aggregations? This session will dive deeply into the nuances of reporting on both Log Analytics and ADX data with Power BI.

Shared Channels: The New Kid on the Block

Microsoft Teams is constantly extending its reach into more and more facets of business collaboration. Shared Channels was one of the most exciting announcements from Ignite 2021 - seemingly promising to resolve the friction involved with cross-tenant collaboration (collaborating with other organizations using Microsoft365). The idea of Shared Channels was simple, yet powerful. Instead of moving between Tenants to access information, allow for that same information to be available within your home tenant! Now that we’ve been able to see it in action in the Public Preview, what do we think? Has it realized the hype from last year? What are the potential scenarios where an organization may see benefit from Shared Channels (even if used for internal purposes only 🤯), and what are the potential 'gotchas' that you may encounter trying to set it up? Join us to see how your organization can leverage Shared Channels, even if privacy and security are paramount.

Building 'NPM' style code libraries for use with SharePoint Framework

The SharePoint framework introduced libraries as a project type, and although useful for very small development projects not ideal for bigger enterprise solutions and ALM strategies. This session is going to cover end to end building a library with standard web-based building blocks, using Azure Dev Ops to create a private NPM package, and then consuming that library and others together within a SharePoint framework solution while hosting the artifacts in an Azure CDN. This is powerful reusability that allow you to manage the lifecycle of different components in a way that mimics all the other packages you might consume when building your solution.
