Due to the ongoing threat and current surge of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule the SPFest in-person conference in Washington, D.C. to December 12-16, 2021.
The health and safety of our attendees, speakers, sponsors, and our staff are our top priority. SPFest has been closely monitoring the recent increase in COVID-19 infections daily and this action was taken out of concern received from SPFest attendees, rescheduling of similarly sized conferences in the U.S., and the increased volume of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the D.C. area. Considering the risk to the health and safety of those participating in the event, SPFest believes that rescheduling this event is in everyone’s best interest.
The CDC is now recommending social distancing across all indoor venues, including full mask requirements, and these limitations and the safety precautions we would need to implement would substantially impact the meaningful networking and relationship building that is of significant value to our sponsors and attendees. Also, due to current COVID-19 conditions, we are seeing impacts to our speaker and sponsor partners having to withdraw, which would adversely affect the attendee experience and value.
While we recognize that this is disappointing news for many who were looking forward to coming together as a community and reconnecting, SPFest strongly believes this change will create a safer and ultimately far larger, richer, and more successful event for everyone involved.
