Breaking collaboration boundaries with external partners through Teams

Guest access, external access, and shared channels all offer new ways to extend the boundaries of communication and collaboration. According to Microsoft research, IT executives report that 55 percent of all collaboration is with external business partners, and more than 300 midsize to large enterprises identified the two most common elements of collaboration that have risen in importance over the past two years: - Fostering collaboration with a wide range of people inside and outside the organization (68%) - Effective team communication (72%) The obvious question: How can we take advantage of the fundamentally deeper relationships these tools allow us to enjoy with our fellows in partner organizations while ensuring that our most sensitive data and interactions remain secure? Considering this question, it is high time for a re-imagining of how we approach and structure inter- and intra-organizational relationships from a technical perspective, with a renewed focus on distinguishing what makes day-to-day work most meaningful and how to empower users across different environments to work together most meaningfully. In this session, we will explore the ways in which the Teams platform can help us realize the goal of bringing external and internal users closer together while maintaining the integrity of the team, and refresh both our perspectives and priorities for organizing and supporting users and their flow of work.

Governance, Information Management, and Teams - What you need to know!

Without governance in place Teams sprawl can negatively impact the business’ experience with Teams. What does governance look like for Microsoft Teams? Should sprawl be a concern and if so, how do we limit it without limiting Teams adoption functionality? How can you ensure you’re adequately capturing the information your organization needs to be compliant with internal and external policies? Manage the mess: Building an organizational strategy for pinned apps in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams continues to be the work zone for employees. Integration with SharePoint, Viva, Yammer, Lists, Planner, OneNote, etc. make it possible to live and work inside of Teams all day. Managing the prime-time real estate of pinned apps in Teams can be challenging, especially as your employees' list of critical apps grows. How do you prioritize which apps get pinned for all users? And should you leave open navigation space so users can select their own favorite apps to pin? In this session, we'll examine sizing and use of the Teams navigation bar. We'll discuss organizing principles, talk about types of models (pre-selected app pinning vs. employee self-service pinning) that may work for your organization, and give you tips on how to prioritize Teams navigation icons.

Shared Channels: The New Kid on the Block

Microsoft Teams is constantly extending its reach into more and more facets of business collaboration. Shared Channels was one of the most exciting announcements from Ignite 2021 - seemingly promising to resolve the friction involved with cross-tenant collaboration (collaborating with other organizations using Microsoft365). The idea of Shared Channels was simple, yet powerful. Instead of moving between Tenants to access information, allow for that same information to be available within your home tenant! Now that we’ve been able to see it in action in the Public Preview, what do we think? Has it realized the hype from last year? What are the potential scenarios where an organization may see benefit from Shared Channels (even if used for internal purposes only 🤯), and what are the potential 'gotchas' that you may encounter trying to set it up? Join us to see how your organization can leverage Shared Channels, even if privacy and security are paramount.
